Abbott comments on bus crash in Big Spring

Three people are dead and fourteen are injured following a fatal bus crash in Big Spring Friday afternoon.

At approximately 5 PM local time, a Ford F-350 pickup truck struck two Andrews Independent School District busses in a head-on collision along the eastbound lanes of I-20 at mile marker 179. The truck was driving against traffic when it struck the first bus and then it struck the second bus that was traveling close behind. The accident caused the death of three adults: two adults in the charter bus and the individual who was driving the truck. Luckily, none of the students lost their life, however, many of them suffered injuries and had to be taken to the hospital for care.

Greg Abbot, governor of Texas commented:

Our hearts go out to those who were injured or lost their lives in the bus crash in Big Spring, and we grieve for the families of those taken too soon.” The Texas Department of Public Safety is working closely with local officials to investigate this accident, and the State of Texas is ready to provide and additional resources and support needed to Andrews ISD, Big Spring, and those affected by this tragedy.”

According to officials, the investigation into the crash will continue.
