  1. From a Home screen, select Applications.
  2. Select Messaging.
  3. Select the envelope that is located in the upper right corner of your phone.
  4. From the To field, enter a 10-digit mobile number, contact name, or email address.
    1. As the number, name, or email address is entered, a matching contact may appear and can be selected.
  5. Then choose Add.

If you don’t want to use the SMS (short message service) messaging on your tablet, there are free text apps.   1. Tap the Compose button, or an existing message.
  2. Enter the phone number or contact name. Or, tap the Add button, then choose your contacts.
  3. Tap the text field, then type your message, tap the Send button to send.
    1. A blue send button indicates the message will be sent with iMessage; a green send button indicates the message will be sent with SMS/MMS, or your cellular service.
