19 are now dead in a Texas nursing home due to Covid-19 complications. The Paradigm at First Colony Nursing home is located in Missouri City. The Texas Tribune reported 24 staff members are affected by the novel coronavirus Covid-19.

11 more residents are infected with the virus. The residents are in stable condition according to city officials.

Quality Incentive Payment Program (QIPP) funds

Related, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a $1.1B in Quality Incentive Payment Program (QIPP) funds. The funds support Texas nursing facilities. The facilities that receive the funds provide care to Medicaid recipients.

Additionally, funding improves the quality of care and strengthens infection controls. The measures better protect vulnerable Texans. The HHSC website provides more information.

Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) announced hundreds of deaths were erroneously counted as Covid-19 related fatalities.

Four of ten coronavirus deaths are attributed to nursing home staff and residents although Although they are a fraction of the population.

July 30: Cumulative fatalities have been corrected for July 27, 28 and 29. As DSHS shifted to using death certificate data to count fatalities this week, an automation error caused approximately 225 fatalities to be included that did not have COVID-19 listed as a direct cause of death. A manual quality check revealed the issue late Wednesday.
