Notes on updates:

  • Dan Crenshaw (TX-2) lost the Republican primary on March 3, 2026 to Texas State Representative Steve Toth. Steve Toth is the GOP nominee and will face Democrat Shaun Finnie in the general election on November 3, 2026. TX-02 is a heavily Republican district, so Steve Toth is the incoming congressman (effective January 2027). Dan Crenshaw remains the current sitting member until the end of his term on January 3, 2027.
  • Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18) passed away on July 19, 2024. She had represented Texas’s 18th Congressional District since 1995. The seat has since been filled through special elections and succession: after her death, the district saw brief interim service before Christian Menefee (D) was sworn in as the current representative in February 2026.
  • Tony Gonzales (TX-23) is out — he resigned on April 14, 2026. The district is currently vacant (special election pending).
  • Several districts have new or updated members due to retirements, deaths, primary losses, special elections, or other changes since 2024–2025 (e.g., TX-12: Craig Goldman; TX-18 succession to Christian Menefee; TX-26 and TX-32 reflect current holders).

2026 Texas U.S. House Races (Updated as of May 26, 2026)

All 38 Texas congressional districts are up for election on November 3, 2026. Primaries were held March 3, 2026, with runoffs today (May 26, 2026). Most nominees are now set, though a few Democratic and Republican runoffs are still being decided. Texas uses a new congressional map from the 2025 mid-decade redistricting (signed by Gov. Abbott in August 2025 and upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court).

    Current delegation (pre-election): 24 Republicans, 13 Democrats, 1 vacancy (TX-23).
