Dallas Cowboys Rack Up Injuries Tangling with the Cardinals

The Dallas Cowboys rack up injuries after tangling with the Cardinals. The Cowboys took a hit during the preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cowboys had all their players healthy for just a couple of days. Neville Gallimore was the first casualty. His left arm injury took him out of play during the first quarter. Sean McKeon injured his right ankle during the second quarter. Just moments before halftime, Ty Nsekhe’s knee sidelined him. Anthony Hines and Malik Turner were also injured during the third quarter.

Dallas Cowboys racked up another injury with Neville Gallimore’s hyperextended elbow. The MRI results show no tears. The injury is minor compared to the what was suspected when he left the field. Unfortunately, he is still scheduled to miss up to six weeks of practice and play. He is projected to be sidelined for Week 1 of the Regular Season.

Dallas Cowboys Sidelined due to Injuries Tangling with the Cardinals

Neville Gallimore

  • Neville Gallimore – left arm * hyperextended elbow
  • Sean McKeon – right ankle
  • Ty Nsekhe – knee
  • Anthony Hines
  • Malik Turner
  • Hunter Niswander – back injury

According to Patrik Walker of CBS News, Sean McKeon’s ankle injury was caused by “being rolled up on by a defender during a tackle in the second quarter.” The high ankle sprain caused him to be helped off the field. Sean McKeon will likely be seated on the bench up to six weeks.

With McKeon on the sidelines, rookies Artayvious Lynn and Nick Eubanks have two games in August to gain attention and take the spot away from Jeremy Sprinkle. Their undrafted rookie status was precarious at best before McKeon’s injury. Sprinkle is a 2017 fifth-round pick who signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys in April 2021.

Dallas Cowboys racked up another injury as Hunter Niswander has a back injury and moved to the waived/injured list. The news comes out of Frisco, Texas that a new kicker has signed on with the Cowboys. Lirim Hajrullahu (pronounced HIGH-roo-lah-hoo) signed on Thursday, August 19, 2021. He was a Canadian All-Star kicker who played for the Toronto Argonauts and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Hajrullahu will take over for Niswander who was filling in for Greg Zuerlein as kicker. The Cowboys are hopeful that Greg Zuerlein will return to his kicking duties in the season opener on September 9.

Head Coach Mike McCarthy held a press conference on August 19, 202. He announced the starting quarterback would not be dressed for play for the upcoming preseason games. Dak Prescott’s shoulder injury has sidelined him since he was unable to throw in practice. Ironically, Tony Romo’s preseason injury catapulted Prescott into his starring role. Rather than risk Prescott to another more debilitating injury during the preseason, the Cowboys have opted to protect him. Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci will battle it out for the number two QB spot.

In other Cowboys Training Camp news, Maurice Canady has made his presence known on the field. He is leading the team in the number of training camp interceptions. Trevon Diggs is a close second. The pair are competing daily and betting on who will capture more interceptions during practice. Canady is not new to snagging interceptions. He logged three in one practice while in Baltimore. While on the field during regular season play, he has one career interception. Canady was a high school receiver and only began playing defense in college. His ball-handling skills and receiver mindset make him a weapon for the Cowboys.
