Secretary Rollins said Trump will fund SNAP during shutdown

Millions of Americans Protected as Priorities Shift to Essentials

Trump to fund SNAP during shutdown. She said it.

In a bold statement on Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria” this morning, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins declared that President Trump is prioritizing key programs to ensure short-term funding for critical food assistance.

“As the president prioritizes, he continues—at least in the short term—will continue funding WIC and food stamps and SNAP,” Rollins said, addressing host Maria Bartiromo amid the federal government shutdown that began October 1, 2025.

This assurance comes as concerns escalate over potential disruptions to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, commonly known as food stamps), which serves over 40 million low-income Americans.

While WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) has been fully secured through tariff revenues and other transfers, SNAP faces risks without new appropriations, with states like Texas warning of November benefit delays if the shutdown persists past October 27.

Rollins did not give specifics but here is how Texans and all SNAP recipients can continue their benefits.

  1. This “short term” likely refers to tapping into SNAP’s approximately $6 billion contingency reserve fund.
  2. Democrats vote to reopen the government.
